Measuring Flour
Did you know that measuring flour the wrong way can ruin your favorite recipes? Flour that's too densely packed can throw off your baking, leaving you with dry, heavy, or unappetizing results. This same idea can be used for measuring other solids, but especially critical for flour
Prep steps (for parents):
Set up a small cup or bowl with some flour, more than what is needed for the recipe. Also set an empty bowl for the child to transfer the measured amount into.
Keep the correct measuring cup (I've used 1/8 cup in the example), a spoon, and a flat edge, such as a butter knife on the side, as those are key to transfer correctly.
Lesson work (for kids):
Scoop the flour from the container with your spoon to fill the measuring cup.
Use the flat edge to scrape off the excess and level it off
Scoop this into the empty container
